Now that CC's first service is scheduled for this Sunday, does anyone have any information regarding the traffic light at Meriden and GPR? I was wondering if it's going in regardless of traffic or will the extent of CC's attendance and resulting traffic congestion determine the need for the light. Personally, I'm not a big fan of traffic lights unless there's a clear need for one. Once they're in it seems that they're in for good.
I havent heard any mention of it in years. Personally I hope they dont do it. I would rather deal with a cop there for a couple hours on Sundays then a lite 24x7, not to mention putting those businesses out of business, by removing all of their parking area. I frequent the bagel shop regularly. Besides, it sounds like they are still a LONG way off from getting all reqd permits for the major construction and full operation, so until that happens I think a lite would be very premature. C.
That makes sense and I hope your thinking is correct. A light there does seem to be a bit of overkill for a situation that is limited to a portion of one day a week, especially as long as we don't have the full-scale operation to deal with. Although I'm not a big bagel eater I have used the cleaners and find them to be competent, reasonable and convenient. In addition, I'm not entirely convinced of the safety of a light there with potential backup to the north on GPR to that blind turn in the road.
I heard that IF they put a light - it would be at the main entrance of the building not on the corner at Meriden
Finally - they got some sense. Put the light at the entrance. Put it on a sensor so it's green on GPR when there's nobody using the entrance. Besides, looks like it'll be a LONG time if ever before there's anything "real" there.
From today's DR - Ireland said that the start of permanent construction has been delayed, perhaps until 2014.
