1558.2. Let's try again by MiddleClass, 3/3/04 13:43 ET Re: weekday traffic by todddavid, 3/3/04
Exact post from a week ago addressing this:
"I'll try again to respond to Todd. Again, I’ll attempt to answer the question as to what would be better for the town at the Agilent site – the CC proposal, or another large company.
The bottom line with the CC proposal is that the negatives outweigh the positives, period. I have a hard time finding any positives of the CC proposal, other than the intangible positive of it being a church. Yes, churches are good, so let’s all have a big group hug. Other than that, what other tangible positives are there? A ball field or two? Another private school? Whoopee. The negatives have been discussed on this forum ad nauseum.
The possible negative of a large business moving there is that there may be a traffic increase. However, I personally don’t feel that this negative outweighs the positive impacts of tax revenue and local jobs.
In addition, the possible negative impact of the large business (traffic) is also a probable negative impact of the CC proposal. And the CC proposal personifies EXACTLY what the state of NJ is having great difficulty with these days – sprawl. Building a facility of this size in an area that is at least 30 miles away from where at least 95% of its’ participants reside is a shining example of sprawl, NJ style. And it is stupid!!"

1567. Re-cap so far
by todddavid, 3/3/04 18:41 ET
The middle ground settlement seems to be gathering steam (The only steam I see is blowing out of Todd's a$$)

We now know the church will cut classroom size (nope - size is the same, just less classrooms) and cap students at a max of 500 (I hope it doesn't hurt).

The towner thing was a nice jester but not that big a deal to most people I have talked too.

More needs to be done but it is a good start. No one can tell a church how many members they can have but to ease fears of growth and traffic they should be willing to cap the sunday services to 2 (Gee - if we did that, we'd be telling them they can't grow beyond 2 services multiplied by one parking lot, so I guess we WOULD be telling them to not grow).

They want to move from montclair because they want to hold less services so they should be willing to cap the number of services (wow - good grammer there Todd).

A debate on what is in the site plan is fair but the anger and attacks on the church help no one

This is a start the church offering a olive branch now lets hope we can keep the good will going and avoid a costly and nasty court fight few in town want

Amazing how badly someone could mangle the English language.

I only see one jester here, and it's NOT the towers (or is that towners?)!!!

Thanks Todd, for being our town jester
