Clearly, there have been many contentious issues that have shown their head on this bbs. Some issues involve politiics. Some issues involve the Environment. Others involve philosophy and some involve religion and religious perspective and discussion. Some discussions involve light hearted joking (G-d knows we all need to share some humour amidst all of this divisive stuff that is going on around us all).
Of course, the most important issue is and will remain the CC situation, as it impacts all of us in general. Each of our perceptions of current events regarding same needs to be expressed and explored.
Perhaps it would be useful to divide this board into several threads, the most important of which would be CC debacle and how it impacts all of us in the Township. But, by having other threads, we could reduce the internal conflict if certain discussions are relegated unto the proper thread. For example, it would be hard to bitch to a person or a group of persons who are debating religion on whatever grounds that they may choose. That is one of the beauties of our system of government and its resultant freedom of expression. But, the multiple thread concet would allow us to keep on topic, which presently is not so easy to do depending on a persons perspective or proclivity at any given moment.
If other threads were to be available, then we would be able to segregate discussions based on topic. Who knows? We might even have a topic that includes the Joys of Living In Rockaway Township!! Hard to believe that topic could arise given the present circumstances, but anything is possible.
I suggest this alternative structure so that we can all engage in discussion on an intellectual level, yet not clash based on topic. If we, for example, want to chat about philosophy or perhaps religion, then there will be a thread for those. Period. If we want to chat about local town politics, then we could have a venue for that. Etc, etc - - - .
Now, I know that it is easy for me to say that this would be a good thing!! I know ~~ this happens all the time. So, (and I do not have any idea,) what the resource requirements that are required to divide the "All Opinions are Welcome, but Sorry no Instigators" board into subsets are, I do not know. I do know that it is possible as we do it with our business bbs; but we pay for that service. What I do not know is what the incremental cost would be compared to the present situation, but I do believe that the benefits would be in the following areas: Everyone could discuss their various opinions who live here in this Township on a variety of topics, but, the chat could be more delimited to the thread in which that discussion was introduced or addressed. It would reduce conflict amongst all of us and give us more focus on the main thread which will become self-defining. What do you think?
I think that I may have used the wrong bbs vernacular when I referred to multiple Threads. I guess it would be multiple subjects or topics that I meant. I can provide an example, but I think that you get the idea. Sorry for any confusion.
