12/8/04 Environmental committee meeting

Does anyone have more info about last night's meeting?

Was this said while the rep was testifying or was it a side comment?

Was the press there, and did they hear the remark?

3337. last nights meeting

Did you know that the CC team was in town last night in front of the environmental committee. Would you believe that one CC rep. was cocky enough to say they since they got the exemption the highlands bill was meaningless to them. WOW can you believe that they would not care about the drinking of millions of people. I am sickened by this.

When this statement was made the attorny for CC went pale and the engineer jumped in and said " but we cut back our original size because of the highlands". While that maybe accurate, the intention is clear they do not care about anyone else but themselves and that is very wrong.

Twist this anyway you want but the sad truth is that CC is selfish and that is very sad

Hi,

Adam and John were there last night.  I am not sure if this post is word for word but this did happen last night.  CC's team was talking with the environmental committee it is highly informal and open to the public.

CC discussed its enviromental views and the long and the short of it is, in our opinion, they are attempting to completely disregard the environment and say they can because of the exemption granted by the DEP.  The statement from the CC representitive seems to indicate that this is the logic behind their actions.  They also ducked all matters relating to the C1 waterways.  As thier exemption was granted without a full plan in place it is hard to see how it was approved, this is a matter for the courts.

Further, it appears that the person who granted the exemption is no longer in his position at the DEP, this fact still needs to be confirmed, but it appears to be true.  If so it is a very intereting move on the part of the DEP.

Sincerely,

Lisa

Sad, yes.  Surprised, not in the least!  There is no morality there.
