getting their ducks in line for a lawsuit

cc KNOWS they will be turned down (no Craig / Greg / Maiers / Mayers, we do NOT need to use eminent domain - which will cause an even BIGGER lawsuit).  They're already lining up their 'story' for the inevitable lawsuit (from today's Daily Rag):

"... the Sceusi administration has compromised the church's right to a fair and balanced hearing on its application," Weinstein said.

...

Weinstein left open the possibility that the mayor's actions might be revisited.

"After the mayor had publicly decided he would not step aside, at that point, we didn't pursue it. Whether that may come up again is an open question," Weinstein said.

See you in court mr ireland

I take it, Jay, that you have spoken to a land use lawyer about this in order to formulate the opinion expressed above?  I have and his opinion is that a lawsuit will happen either way and that the damages will only be worse by dragging this thing along.  He also indicates that the only chance this town has is to condemn the land by the law of Eminent Domain.  If you want my lawyers name and number, please advise and I will provide it to you.  However, I will warn you that he does charge for consultations, no big surprise.  However, his advice is much more credible and reliable than that of most laypersons like yourself.

Craig Daniel (or Craig or Daniel) - I don't want your lawyer's number.  I have my opinion that I formed - as do others.  Not all of us are rich college students with tons of free time during the day, living with relatives, and have lots of money to hire expensive lawyers...This is a discussion board for the sharing of opinions and that's what I did.

You should really run for mayor - treat it as a civics lesson for a rich college student with way too much free time (gee - description sounds more like a midde-age person who retired early than a college student...but what do I know).  You know SO MUCH MORE than the rest of us - we all are humbled by the magnitude of your presence...

No problem, Jay.  I always enjoy sharing my knowledge with everyone.  Thanks for endorsement!   As for the notion of running for Mayor, there would be a little problem with that. (too bad that I am not Craig, then I could be called Mayor Maier!)  If I managed to get elected, I would openly represent the best interest of Rockaway Township rather than concern myself with trying to maintain a balance between the best interest of Rockaway Township and the interests of Ireland (who has no interest whatsoever in our election process).  If Ireland came to my office, I would literally laugh in his face with any requests that he might have that I treat his concerns with equal gravity as those of the people who elected me to public office.

As you know, that is a politically incorrect posture to take in this world today.  That leaves me out of public life, luckily.

And again, thanks for the compliments.  I am pretty worldly for my age.  I got that attribute from my family background and history.
