We have some new friends joining us in our fight! Other environmental organizations have asked to testify and they are strongly opposed to the plans.
Further, I will tell you that we have found information that will need to be addressed regarding the history of the property at 140 Green Pond Rd. I can not comment further on a message board about this matter - I can say that it is clear that adding to the intensity of use of this property is 100% the WRONG thing to do.
Last night Christ Church addressed the environmental committee of Rockaway Twp. In short they did not provide anything new and "glossed over" all major issues. MANY questions have not been addressed by the applicant.
Have a great day!

The Christ Church Plan for the redevelopment of 140 Green Pond Rd is just too big for the area.
That property has a lot of pre-existing soil contamination. Much of it is under the footings. Disturbing it will create an ecological disaster for the streams and aquifer! But, so what? Mnority owned inner city Churches can do whatever they want. Just don't you even think about doing these things! I suspect that will only mean that the streams will need to be filtered before they are dumped into the reservoir conduit at Jersey City's cost, and the Township will need to install a filtration system on the city water network at our cost.
And you clearly are a Fool! Wake up, friend! This is a racial issue - - - Ireland made it that way about 10 months ago on CBS News! Everyone in this town has been scared s h i t less of him ever since.
Both of you stop it now! The race issue is one sided, from Ireland....as predicited, he is using the race trump card to aid his cause, bolstered by the mega bucks he has grabbed from his congregation to pay legal, media and other professionals.
Occasionally, it is suspected, he pays a shill, or finds someone with a financial stake in the move, to raise the hair on a few people and get the opposition to rant on the boards and in the papers (Cases in point: Doty perhaps aka Todd/Russ and the other names? The Muscle man?)
We learned from this and have moved on.
The race issue has never been a reason - scope, size, impact and burden are the issues that the township resisdents are against this mega chuch.
I've lost a little respect for you "Rational", unless you are being sarcastic, which I hope is the case.
It is a racial issue in as much as Ireland said on CBS news that the resistance to his church in Rockaway Township is strictly based on Race. He played the race card while providing no evidence of the same. Thereafter, this township has been treating this charleton with kid gloves, unlike they would treat any other applicant. Futhermore, the DEP has exempted him from one of the most sweeping pieces of environmental legislation ever passed in the country. The ink was not even dry when this huge impact on the Highlands was given a total pass by the DEP. I strongly suspect that was done because they saw (or maybe it was pointed out by Ireland) that they were dealing with a huge minority church. They probably realized the political incorrectness of picking on that sort of organization. Had you or I gone before the DEP for an exemption under the exact same circumstances as Ireland, do you seriously think that we would have gotten it? Lets get real about it.
