London and the CC project

Hi all,

Here is a funny story for you.  I was in London (UK) for a business meeting this week and while standing in the customs line the woman behind me noticed my address on my bag.  It said Green Pond Rd. Hibernia.  She said "excuse me, is that where that huge church wants to build".  I thought to myself, is this for real - someone is talking about this project in LONDON ENGLAND - but it was 100% for real.  I said yes what do you know about it?  She said Well it sounds like the town is against it and I do not see why someone  who  attends a church in Montclair  would want to sit in all that traffic and come all the way to Rockaway.  I said that her observations seemed realistic to me.

I am getting hit with jet lag at the moment so I will end my story here - it was really strange to be that far away and have a complete stranger bring that up!

Good night.

Lisa

Here's another funny one. I occasionally surf the CC website to see what they are up to. Like most people in town, I question their credibility as a legit religious organization as opposed to a money making scheme. I came across this in the IMPACT section on their website:

"And if you act now with your first monthly gift of $20 or more, or with your annual gift, you will receive Dr. Ireland’s motivating series, Habits of Spiritual Champions on CD or cassette!"

Wow, does this sound like a sales pitch from a cheesy infomercial or what. Hey Rev, throw in a set of steak knives and you got a deal..........

PS: I know it's about environmental impact, but i can't help myself.

Here is another funny one - - - some of you may have been there to hear this one.  It was at an early planning board meeting when a series of questions was raised.  It went something like this:

Question: "How many ministers do you have at your church?"

Answer: "Around 8"

Question: "Then why are you having such a hard time dealing with 5 services on Sunday?  You could distribute the work amongst the various Ministers."

Answer: "No I can not do that."

Question: "Why not?"

Answer: "Because only I have the Gift!"

When you pay money to see a Broadway show, you want to see the star performers, not the stand-ins. Same theory applies here. He is trying to bill himself as a star, like that Rev. Joel Olsteen character.

Here is another humerous and paradoxical observation about this clown.  Ireland expressed publically and under oath that he discriminates in his hiring practices at cc.  He only hires cc christians to work at his circus.  I wonder if his lawyer, Berger, and his PR man, Weinstein are cc christians??  Right!!
