Last night at the town council meeting I asked Mr. Press about his letter to the editor and was surprised by his response. First of all he said 'I have a right to write a letter...I had no idea if it would get printed'. While I agree that he has a right to free speech I asked him what his intentions were in the letter and if he thought that baseless legal action should be met with no responce from those they are filled against? He said he did not support baseless legal action, but did not like what the mayor said about it. I then asked if he thought it was a wise more for the town to not take a firm stance when a developer attempts to bully them into getting their way, he did not actually respond to that question.
Then I asked the town attorney for clearification of Mr. Press's statment that CC had "dropped" the suit. I was informed by the town attorney that the judge had dismissed the case wirh the possibility of reinstating it in 60 days if CC had cause. In short the case was not dropped by CC and Mr. Press has mislead the public with this letter claiming they had. I then asked Mr. Press if he would write a letter of clearification that his original letter was factually incorrect, he claimed he would.
Time will tell.
